I want to get on birth control – I’m 37 years old.?

I took the pill for years, but stopped taking it 2 years ago because I smoke. I’ve quit smoking and I want to get on some sort of birth control method.
I’d like to hear from women in their 30′s – what is your method and how much weight have you gained?
P.S. I don’t want to have a tubal.

I am in my 30′s and recently start taking some birth control and I think it’s pretty good. I am taking "Nuva Ring". That is pretty easy cause only you need to incert the ring once in every 3weeks. I don’t know about you but I haven’t gain any weight with this medication.

I am 29 and have had a coil since the age of nineteen. I am terrible for remembering to take pills. I tried the injection and wanted to kill myself for three months! Bad depression was caused yet when my friend had it she suffered no depression but weight gain and blotchy skin. I do not trust the implants as they can go missing.
I changed from an older style coil to a mirena coil with the added hormone it has it has more or less stopped my periods which is great as I no longer need to buy pads or tampons. I hope this helps in some way xx

have you thought about the contraceptive injections, or implants (they used to be called Norplant)?
I am 36 years old, not using any contraception at the moment.. I have had Norplant for several years in my 20′s, they worked really well, and weight gain was very minimal.

Well I am not in my 30′s. I am 23 years old. I like the pill. I have been on two different kinds. One made me sick to my stomach all the time. But the other brand I was on for years and I had no bad side effects. Actually I loss 15 pounds on it. I don’t really know anything about the patch. I personally have not taken the shot but I have heard numerous women complain about it. Either they were constantly on their period or it only came twice a year. The thing about birth control is that it acts different on every women and you just have to try a few bad ones till you find one you like.

I am not 30 yet, but almost. I’ve had 2 I.U.D.’s and I loved them. IUD stands for intra uterine device. Its a little plastic T shaped object that the Dr. inserts into your uterus. There are no hormones or any thing. Loved it. My periods were a little heavier, but that was it. No weight gain no mood swings or any thing and they can be left in for up to 10 years. Its painless, you don’t feel it when they put it in or take it out. definitely check into it.

I am 30 with no interest of having more children. My first choice was a Mirena IUD, but my cervix is really deep and very curved so this wasn’t an option. These are completely care-free as they are effective for up to ten years. I am currently using the Depo-Provera injections (have been for six years) and it is my next best suggestions. However, you do have to go to the doctor every 13 weeks for this injection, and insurance does not cover it as it is a 90 day scrip….so every 13 weeks costs $60 plus the copay for the doc visit. I did speak to my GYN about Nuvaring, but after 6 years of no period, I couldn’t change. Talk to your OB/GYN about your options and what’s best for you.
