Is smoking on occasion really THAT bad for you?

I smoke American Spirits (100% additive free) and it takes me around two-three months to finish one pack. I smoke when im stressed or if i just feel like smoking which is not too often. When I smoke I inhale a few times, but the rest of the time i smoke it the way you would smoke a cigar. I told my parents that I was going to quit, but i don’t really see the harm in smoking a pack in 2 months. I finished what is supposed to be my last cig today, but i don’t really have any motivation for quitting…

So, what im wondering is, could this still hurt my health in the near or late future if i smoke 1-3 cigarettes a week? (keep in mind i smoke natural cigarettes)

And please, i would like educated responses based in FACT, not your own personal opinions on smoking….
BTW, im not addicted!! I can stop if i wanted to, its just that i dont want to. I dont have the drive to quit because i dont believe its bad in the first place. If I got actual proven FACTS that say that its bad, then that would be my motivation.

Also, i said they are additive free, not addictive free. There arent the extra 600+ chems put in this brand…
Ali, i dont smoke cigars. I also dont have any children and I only smoke alone so no one around me has to smell it or get offended by it.

"Natural" cigarettes still contain tar, nicotine, carbon monoxide, and a whole raft of carcinogens. All that the word "natural" means in this context is that they haven't added other crud to this product. They don't need to – it's still going to produce a toxic smoke. So the argument that they are somehow better is right out the window.

2-3 smokes a week is still an exposure to all this crap. It's like saying that you'll only take a little bit of cyanide, and it won't hurt you. Except that nicotine is still an addictive substance. Also, the tobacco plant has been manipulated by the tobacco companies to increase the amount of nicotine that is produced, so it's much more addictive than it was 30 years ago. So your 2-3 per week might be the same risk as 2-3 a day was back then. And how do you know that your brand doesn't use this enhanced tobacco? Yeah, it doesn't have the additives – it still has tobacco.

Finally, the fact that you are lying to your parents, and that you're telling yourself that you don't feel like quitting suggests to me that you are already addicted, and that you're afraid you can't quit.

There's only one way to find out, Alav. Who's in charge of your life? You?

    Or your fears?

    Edit:

"BTW, im not addicted!! I can stop if i wanted to, its just that i dont want to." (sic)

Famous last words. Have them put these on your tombstone.

Yes, no matter how much you smoke, it builds up in your lungs. Research shows that when parents smoke around their children, their children end up smoking too. After one puff on that cigar, cigarette, anything like that will get you addicted even if the product says its not addictive. After the stuff builds up in your lungs in arteries you can get an illness called Emphysema, my grandma had it and was in the hospital for 3 months! (yet she still smokes!) Or worse you can get cancer, which will shorten your life like AIDS, but that is a different topic. Anyways, either way you can get an illness no matter how much you smoke even from Second Hand Smoke which me and my baby brother get a lot of. Our parents and like I said before Grandma all smoke. Before my dad married my step-mom they always smoked in the house so therefore, my friends with asthma could never come in. Now they smoke outside and in the car with their windows down so the smoke does not go into our lungs, it goes outside. Like I said, one whiff and that’s all it takes, just ONE.

Smoking is bad for you. But reducing the amount can help a lot. Try by going on websites like webmd.com or talking it out with someone who has quitted. Getting support from people who have been in your situation makes it easier to quit and gives you motivation. People like to chew gum that helps you quit or the patch. I have never heard of someone who is addicted to this kind of tobbacco. Also try to do some reasearch about quitting. I don’t know that much about this subject but to answer your question smoking is not good for you even occasionally and I know it is hard to stop. Good luck on quitting because it CAN be done (:

Since you smoke cigars you have a slighter risk of cancer than cigarette smokers but don’t take that as an excuse to continue smoking. When you inhale it it goes to your lungs and makes it function less properly so you won’t be able to breathe as good as a non smoker. As for the near future risk thingy yes it does. Also since you smoke your children will gain a very good risk of diseases related to smoking.

It’s really a relief that you are not addicted to it I don’t really care if you quit or not. The only thing I explained was just the facts about it. If you are motivated to quitting reduce your amount of smoking every week if you have to smoke go smoke somewhere that no one else is present so no one will inhale second hand smoke.
