How does the generic brands of Nicotine gum compare to the real stuff?

I’m trying to help my boyfriend quit smoking and the Nicotine gum is so expensive, because the generic brand (i.e. CVS, Walgreens) is a little cheaper is it still as effective?!

They are exactly the same. Good luck, if they do not help you quit go to a doc and see if you can get Welbrutin prescribed. It works for a lot of people who want to quit and you can usually stop taking it within a few months.

generic and brand names of a any drug is the same. the only difference is the compounds used to put the meds together. the fda sets the guidelines for generics and brand names. in most cases, the brand name is able to release their product years before the generic is allowed to.

The pharmaceutical companies are the reason there is so much misinformation regarding tabacco. They created hype so they could sell the anti-smoking products.

The gov’t created hype so they can collect sin taxes which they make billions on each year.

They worked together to bullsh!t the nation… and as usually no one questioned anything.

effectivness should be the same, taste might be a little different. but the original nicotorettes dont taste so great anyway, the premium soft chews or whatever taste the best. so id either go with the generic, or if he cant stand the flavor then spend a little extra and get the premium nicorettes. chantix is a prescription drug that is supposed to be pretty effective if he’s interested in that, http://www.chantix.com

but its kinda expensive (~$100/month) if he doesnt have insurance or his insurance doesnt cover it, but thats about the same cost as smoking a pack a day so really it isnt too bad.
