The best way of quitting is following a method. http://stopsmoking.eu.pn/ is a new approach on quitting for everyone who seriously wants to stop smoking, and it’s completely free; there’s no need to buy anything, no medications, no gum nor patches, even no weight-gain.

There is no real way that will definitely work, but whenever people around me used to get cravings they’d remind themselves of how it’s affecting not only the people around them, but themselves.

Replace the pack of cigarettes with a talisman (e.g., a photo of a loved one) or a souvenir that reminds you of what you want to accomplish.
    # Don’t carry matches or a lighter.
    # Avoid situations that you associate with smoking.
    # Keep busy to overcome the urge to smoke
    # Sit in the "no smoking" sections of public places
    # Remember the health risks of smoking
    # Focus on what you expect to gain by quitting.
    # Breathe deeply to fight off the desire to smoke
    # Drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.
    # Stay away from places where people smoke to avoid temptation.
    # Tell others about your effort to quit smoking
    # Ask friends and family for support to help you quit smoking. There are also Internet chat rooms that can provide you with support and ideas for remaining smoke-free.

I have gave up the ciggies 3 times for 6 months each time …and I still went back to them…but what did help me ..anytime I had the urge I quickly thought of something else…and it eased it…even when out socially…I did the same..it slowly gets easier..then it is just sheer willpower…it is very , very hard….and I wish u all the luck I can..I am going to try for a 4th. time and hopefully keep of them..I hope this helps

It may seem a little extreme but this worked for me. I timed quitting smoking to coincide with a week long backpacking trip through the wilderness. Plenty of fresh air, nobody who smoked and a week without cigarettes. It worked for me. My friends on the trip all said I was meaner than any bear we were likely to meet on the trip. I guess I was pretty grumpy the first couple of days. :)

Your best bet is to stay away from smokers and follow the advice about water, keeping busy and so on. Also, don’t drink alcohol while you are quitting.
